What Makes Hi-NRC Feltboard Different?
Traditional felt board typically has a low NRC value of around 0.35-0.45 - depending upon the specific manufacturer. This line of High NRC felt board boast NRC values of 0.70 for a type A (direct) mount without the need for special mounting protocols! When suspended as a baffle, this absorption substantially increases, as sound can be absorbed on BOTH SIDES of the baffle.
Hi-NRC Feltboard is able to achieve these high acoustic performance ratings in 2 ways:
1. Hi-NRC Feltboard is less dense than standard felt board, allowing for greater acoustic absorption. Hi-NRC Feltboard boards are 6lbs per cubic foot. This means that a standard 4'x8' panel only weighs 16lbs. Most felt boards on the market vary between 9lbs per cubic foot and 12lbs per cubic foot.
2. Hi-NRC Feltboard is thicker than standard felt board, allowing for greater acoustic absorption. Hi-NRC Feltboard thickness is 25mm (1"). Standard felt board thickness is either 9mm or 12mm.

Cleaning & Care Instructions
Installation Guidelines
-
Handle with Care:
- Keep the grid in packaging until ready to install.
- Wear clean gloves to avoid getting them dirty or damaging the edges.
- If dusty, use a vacuum with a soft brush to clean them.
-
Plan Your Layout:
- Mark the ceiling for eye screw placements, making sure they line up with baffle hanging points.
- For steel deck ceilings, install eye screws in the sides of the flutes if possible.
-
Set Hanging Points on Baffles:
- Decide on hanging points for each baffle on-site, allowing flexibility with different ceiling types.
-
Install Eye Screws:
- Use the appropriate screw type based on the ceiling material (toggle anchors for drywall ceilings).
-
Attach Cables and Hang Baffles:
- Clip cables to the ceiling eye screws and attach the baffles to the cables with carabiners.
- Use PVC-coated cables in pool areas and ensure baffles are at least 18 inches below any sprinklers.
-
Clean as Needed:
- Use a vacuum with a soft brush to remove any dust on the baffles.
