What is the Purpose of an Acoustic Panel or Baffle?

Acoustic panels, sometimes, incorrectly, called soundproofing wall panels that carry NRC ratings (Noise Reduction Coefficient) are intended to improve sound quality within a space. They absorb sound, thus reducing reverberation - or what people call echo. They are not intended to act as soundproofing measures to control noise from one room to the next. Acoustic panels and baffles are intended to be used in any area that needs to sound better.

Examples include: Bedrooms, Home Recording Studios, Home Podcast Studios, Home YouTube/Streaming Studios, Offices, Home Offices, Small Meeting Rooms, Restaurants, Theatres, Concert Halls, Gymnasiums, Classrooms, Corridors, Churches and Other Houses of Worship, Fitness Studios, Arenas, Pools, Garages, etc.
